FREE ELECTRICAL CHECK AND SURVEY
WHEN IS THE LAST
TIME YOU CHECKED?

Electrical Visual Inspections

It's a fact that all electrical installations will worsen over time and like a car, which needs an annual MOT to ensure everything is ok, your electrics aren’t any different.

If you are concerned about the electrical safety of your devices and appliances, visual inspections are a great way to do a basic visual check around your home.  Perhaps you are moving home, or simply haven’t checked your home equipment for a while and are wondering if everything is as it should be.

Conducting an electrical inspection report can give you some reassurance and peace of mind and should we notice any visual defects the report will highlight them so you can get them attended to, so you know your home is safe.

It’s for this reason that we still feel there's a valid place for the good old, tried and tested visual electrical safety check, it’s completely free and only takes an hour to complete.

WHAT IS A VISUAL INSPECTION?
A visual inspection is a basic survey of your electrics to identify any visible signs of defects, damage or deterioration and to determine whether it complies with the current BS7671 electrical safety standard.

Visual electrical checks are best used during the interim period between standard testing regimes to ensure that an installation remains in a ‘safe to use’ state. By running a VIR on your electrics, we'll be able to identify any potential damage or deterioration to your electrics.

DOMESTIC ELECTRICAL FAULT FINDING

Our experts are trained professionals who look for defects or inconsistencies in your current installations (should there be any).

Using industry standards and processes, we'll carefully inspect your electrics on the lookout for the following:

  • there is no broken or missing electrical equipment and accessories

  • Checks to plugs, light fittings and switches, electrical cables and leads along with extension leads

  • there is no access to live parts without the use of a key and/or tool

  • there are no visible signs of burning/scorching RCD protection around the home

  • the condition of the meter tails, consumer unit(s) and supplier’s equipment is satisfactory

  • survey of kitchen safety

  • survey of bathroom safety

  • correct sized earth bonding

Once we have finished the inspection, we present a report back to you with our findings and recommendations, providing you with a summary of the condition of your installations investigated during the VIR.

Should the visual inspection detect unsafe items we will inform you and advise you if a further Electrical Inspection Condition Report should be carried out.

Occasionally a visual inspection can also be carried out before conducting an EICR to get a, indication of the extent and limitations for that particular installation.
