Electrical Safety 101: Keeping You and Your Home Safe

Every year, thousands of incidents related to electrical safety occur. Fortunately, many of these can be prevented with some basic knowledge and awareness. Here's a guide to keeping safe around electricity.

KNOW YOUR LIMITS

If you're not an electrician, don’t try to be one. While DIY is all the rage, tampering with electrical systems without proper knowledge can be deadly.

REGULAR INSPECTIONS Have a licensed electrician inspect your home at least once every few years. They can identify potential issues that might be invisible to the untrained eye.

SAFE APPLIANCE USE Never use appliances with frayed cords or damaged plugs. Ensure that outlets near water sources have Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI) installed.

CHILDPROOFING If you have children, ensure that your outlets are covered with safety caps. Educate them about the dangers of sticking objects into sockets.

THE TAKEAWAY

Safety around electricity is paramount. A little caution can prevent accidents and safeguard your loved ones.
